Chalets: Trendsetting Mountain Treasures
Ski On Home featured in Braun Publishing's compendium on mountain homes.
"Chalets" presents new constructions as well as renovated and reconstructed historical chalets from around the world – in Aspen and Zermatt, the South American Andes and the mountain regions of Japan. The designs are multifaceted, ranging from traditional to modern, simple to luxurious, but the individual expression of each project captures the particular charm of the surrounding landscape.
AUTHOR'S DESCRIPTION
Ski On Home is a year-round residence designed for a young family of four avid skiers and snowboarders.
The residence sits on the main ski run to the village below and directly below the mountain's funitel. Planned to sleep up to 17 people at a time, the home is also used by a large extended family and friends. Nestled in to the mountain, the home has ski-in/ski-out access on all levels and is naturally protected by the earth from avalanches. The ski room is surrounded on three sides by glass walls and can be opened out toward the ski terrace. A fireplace, wet bar and sauna suite frame the rear of the ski room and provide a place to relax.
